The technical assistant to the Vice president of Nigeria, Mr Philip Obin has call on the River State governor, Nyesom Wike to steer clear of Cross River State politics.
His reaction is coming after the Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade in recent times has been suffering from verbal attacks by his counterpart.
Obin Opin that if this is not carefully managed, the state may be rushing into a no return political crises. He however caution Gov Wike to stop harassing his colleague.
In his words Politics apart, I think Governor Wike should be called to order to choose his words carefully in addressing our State Governor, His Excellency Prof Ben Ayade.
Ayade may not have done well enough,g however, he’s still an Executive Governor of a ‘sovereign’ state and a constituted authority just like Wike himself. They’re both elected governors with same mandate, powers and authority.
I have repeatedly watched the Ayade video and couldn’t find anywhere Gov Ayade insulted Gov Wike to provoke such unguarded utterances a fellow Governor.
This idea of Rivers State Politicians trying, desiring and wanting to colonise, annex, widwife, superintendent over Cross River State – politically, is dangerous, a ticking time bomb and must be resisted by every well-meaning Cross Riverian.
Yes, we may have political leadership challenges, but I also know that we have men and women capable of confronting and resolving our challenges locally, as Cross River boasts of some of the finest leaders, refined, educated, smart and accomplished leaders.
Please note that I am not against external support by any politician or group. What I am against the brazen attempts at dictatorship in the politics of Cross River State by external leaders who do so with so much impunity!
In the end, we would have no other state than Cross River.
This should be a wake up call for Political Leaders in Cross River State, especially the younger generation.
