President Muhammadu Buhari Frowned on the outcome of Niger Delta Development Commission [NDDC] full forensic report has revealed.
The Forensic report shows that over six trillion Naira was approved by the federal government for the development of Niger Delta Commission [NDDC].
This is the total amount the government has approved for the commission since its creation in 2001 to 2021.
The Minister of Niger-Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio presented the report on Thursday in Abuja to the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
Three trillion, three hundred and seventy six thousand, seven hundred and ninety four Naira, ninety three kobo was approved as budgetary allocation.
“And N2,420,948,894,191.00 Two trillion, four hundred and twenty billion, nine hundred and forty million.
Income from statuary and Non Statutary sources is at “eight hundred and ninety four thousand, one hundred and ninety one Naira”
“this brings the total sum to approximately Six Trillion Naira given to the Niger Delta Development Commission,” Malami confirmed.
NDDC Audit Report
President Buhari ordered the forensic audit in August 2019 since it was created in 2001 to 2021.
The order was given by the president based on complains from the Niger Deltan, that politicians are siphoning the funds meant for the people for their personal consumption.

According to the minister for justice, the forensic audit show that;
- The Government has initiate 13,777 projects
- Contractors use dubious means to carry out projects.
- NDDC has 362 Bank Accounts
- Lack of proper reconciliation of accounts.
The president and the government plans to use all the instruments of law to amend all litigation which have lead to the lack of development for Niger-Delta, Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami said.
The Attorney – General of the federation Malami also confirmed the president stands after receiving the forensic report.
Malami confirmed that government will initiate “Criminal investigations, prosecution, recovery of funds which was not channeled to the development of the region.
The government will review laws to reposition and restructure the NDDC for the efficiency and better service delivery, amongst others.
Legal due process will be considered in carrying all of the Above, Malami confirmed.
The Niger Delta Development Commission is one of the government agencies introduced by the former Nigeria president, President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2000.
The Ministry is saddled with the responsibility of developing the oil rich Niger Delta Region.
President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua created Niger delta ministry and the NDDC became a parastatal under the Ministry.
Another reason for creating the ministry was to mitigate militancy and numerous complains from the people of the region.
The Niger Delta citizens had complained of the government negligence in the area of Education and infrastructural development.
The region that is providing the major income for the country is suffering such neglect, the people complained.
The commission is supposed to train, educate youths in the oil rich Niger Delta region to stop criminal actions, Such as blowing pipelines kidnapping experts working in the region.
